Throughout the Plan Review process a combined approach has been followed, and it was the intention that the Core Strategy and Allocation & Development Management DPDs would be published for representation, submitted and examined alongside one another. However as a result of NUA/Ho/2 (‘Land south of Quibell’s Lane’, Newark) no longer being considered deliverable for a gypsy and traveller use it has become necessary to separate the review process out. Consequently the review of the Core Strategy DPD will now be progressed ahead of that for the Allocations & Development Management DPD. An updated Local Development Scheme outlining the timetable for the two-part review is available to view at:

Accordingly approval was gained at the meeting of Full Council on 11th July 2017 to publish the Publication Amended Core Strategy DPD and seek representations over its soundness and legal compliance. The document sets out the District Council's spatial policy framework for delivering the development and change needed to realise the District Council's vision for the District up to 2033. When adopted it will replace the current Core Strategy adopted in March 2011.

Representations can be made between Monday 17th July and 5pm on Friday 1st September 2017. Following the close of the representation period the District Council will decide whether to submit the amended DPD to the Secretary of State in order for its independent Examination to take place.
