1.6       Neighbourhood planning gives communities direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and deliver the sustainable development they need. Once ‘Made’ a Neighbourhood Plan becomes a part of the development plan. The District Council has a duty to assist interested councils and communities in producing their Neighbourhood Plans, and part of this is the requirement to set out which policies are ‘strategic’. This is because Neighbourhood Plans must be prepared in line with a local planning authority’s strategic policies. For the purposes of Neighbourhood Planning it is considered that all policies are Strategic under the terms of the NPPF.   Details of the status of Neighbourhood Plans and how we can assist can be viewed at
