Newark & Sherwood Local Development Framework Plan Review - Preferred Approach Town Centre & Retail

The District Council is currently in the process of reviewing its Development Plan (made up of the Core Strategy and Allocations & Development Management Development Plan Documents). With the first stage of consultation (the Issues Paper) having been carried out in the Autumn of 2015. This was followed with the first part of the 'Preferred Approach' consultation in September 2016. The 'Preferred Approach - Strategy' set our preferred approach to new development targets, based on the latest evidence, a refined spatial strategy (i.e. where future development should be located), new affordable housing policies and range of other minor changes to current planning policy

We are now in a position to consult on the remaining elements of the Preferred Approach stage of the Plan Review. This includes the separate 'Preferred Approach - Sites & Settlements' and this document the 'Preferred Approach - Town Centres & Retail'. Importantly the 'Preferred Approach - Town Centres & Retail' outlines the Councils proposed approach to identifying and meeting forecast convenience and comparison retail needs over the plan period and to the review of existing, and introduction of new, planning policy concerning retail and other main town centre uses.

The consultation document can be viewed and commented on through the link below. In addition the supporting Town Centre & Retail Study and downloadable versions of the consultation paper and comments form are also available.

This consultation has now closed.
